We do not produce a Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon every year, and our winemakers Dimitri Tchelistcheff and Ted Henry only designate a wine as “reserve” when they feel it is extraordinary. This wine met the criterion. Dimitri, who is generally conservative with his accolades, said that he considered this to be a 100 point wine! This wine is unique in that its extra bold flavors warranted two separate rounds of barrel aging in 100% new French “Nevers” oak.
2004 was a very small but outstanding vintage for your Cabernet Sauvignon. It was first aged 23 months in new French barrels of Nevers oak. Then since the wine was still too bold we aged it another two months once again in new French oak barrels. This wine has gone through extended aging and was released when our winemakers felt it was ready for you and your friends to enjoy.
